Shall I let you know what yesterday's abstract was? Go on then, since you are all so nice to me I shall. Dazedgoneby got it right, it is the end of an old windscreen wiper arm. I think it must be from either a Mini or a Morris Minor, or some other such small 1960s car. Anyway, thanks to you all for making the effort. Whilst working today, we came across some more historical artifacts: a 1980s Coca-cola can, a rusted hasp and hook, complete with padlock and key, and an old bathroom cold tap handle (a.k.a. faucet over the Pond). I will photograph them all, and may even start an Archeological Finds gallery! (Other people find Roman coins or Celtic jewellery...) Despite the best efforts of the skip hire company to hold us up, we have actually done quite well over the past three days. The site has been cleared (apart from a couple of trailer loads of ivy), and is almost ready to be levelled off and compacted. Tomorrow we dump what's left of the rubbish, then build the retaining wall to stop my neighbour's fence from falling down, lay slabs at the entrance, then finally level off and compact down the soil in preparation for the hardcore, weed resistant matting and gravel courses. Liam was on brazier duty today and he faithfully burned every bit of timber that wasn't nailed down, and sat sentinel with a hose while the wood burned.
