7/17/05 - Widow Skimmer Dragonfly

Went out for sunrise shots; no sun.
Plan B - Got in the car to go to the ruins of an old mill (circa 1742); had to cross train tracks while hiking in; stop, look and listen - here comes a train. http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/46309102
Shots of the mill were poor - but what's that at my feet?
It's Plan C - A dragonfly drying its wings to start the day. You think it wasn't still? This was an 8 second exposure.
Getting a PAD shot can be a challenge some days. It's surprising how often the PAD isn't plan A, but something that pops up at the end of a shoot just when you've about given up.

And plans D and E aren't strangers to me, Ed, so I know what you mean. ;-)
Beautiful macro here. I assume for 8 seconds you had a tripod with you.
Just took a quick look through your galleries. Very inspirational. I'll have to give them a closer look.
