The Kanchanaburi War Cemetery contains the graves of nearly 7000 allied prisoners who died whilst being held by the Japanese during World War Two. Approximately 5000 British servicemen lie next to their allied Australian and Dutch victims.

The Cross of Sacrific can be seen through the central arch.
