I cannot remember who built it, but I know Butch was a carpenter at that time, he might have had something to do with it. I remember he worked on Wilt Chamberlins (sp) and always had access to materials. Wilt showed up a few times to visit the wall and he used to play volleyball with us, once he was on my team because Paul Bird would heckle me because I was small and couldn't always keep up with the big guys. Wilt would back me up.

That really is a stunning picture of Bear...
Oh, uh, yeah, no I don't remember who built it, but I assumed Bear had something to do with it, and the "older" guys... They had cars, tools, some were already working serious jobs in construction (access to wood) and really for awhile nothing happened down at the break without their instigation or approval.
Karra, do you know who actually built this ramp?.I think it's the same one that had been inside with the picnic tables, and although there was talk of making it "official" the city finally forced it's removal.....but WHO actually built it?

I was crazy I used to blaze and drink a beer up there when the sub station was right below me , lol
Karra the beer meister !!!! I think that ramp got used as a bon fire one night, or was that the one the "city" destroyed along with LAPD back up of course
you can tell they painted the snack shop sign after the ramp was built. It could be explained away as a sign for the shop built this way due to the high winds that knocked the other sighns over, lol

definitely bear. naturally ALL materials were purloined from anywhere possible. I remember this ramp, we collected money from tourists who started gathering to observe at some point. I remember telling them the money was for wood to build a better ramp (then we bought a case of beer and drank it on the roof of the pavilion).
