As a long weekend draws to a close, and VW's in various states are left strewn up the A30, having expired on the way back up from Newquay, then some of the cloud has returned..... hang on, that should be the other way round, it should be clearing today, lol...
Driving back home this afternoon, I noticed this vista towards the south.
OK, there is a quarry disfiguring the view, but that, and the viaduct are now part of the landscape. Yes Tor and the High Willhays (pronounced willies) plateau are in the centre to right of this image... this is "the highest ground in England south of the Lake District... apart from a bit of the Black Mountains on the Welsh border" And yes, that phrase does exist in a local guide book! All of 2000 feet above sea level, it always rains when I go up there. I must choose my days better.
