Hi I'm an R80 rider and really enjoyed your photos, especially the winter ones.

The only British units that had MG in their titles (that I could find) were those of the Machine Gun Corps and their shoulder title was M.G.C. The bottom left of the third letter (which makes it look like an A is I think, the Dot between the letters like the one between the M and G. If you ignore the dot the rest looks curved like a C seen edge on.

The I or 1 beneath may be the number of the MG company or the designation of the formation the MG company was attached to.
