i cheated on my barber today. went in and was greeted by another barder lady and she took me to her chair. did not have the heart to say that i was waiting for my regular baber. now i have a shaved head which is not all that bad...but you can see the dent in my head.

my friends and i think you will all agree, this is not a very flatering picture ( i can only think of one friend who would really say it) =).

the image looks weird too since i did not show my eyes, i was going to crop even closer and have a guessing game but this looked better i think. i am not comfortable in front of the camera which is why i don't have any self portaits up.

Fred: don't know what kinda bird that was...but collectively, they were loud.

Vinh: it was a 135mm prime and yes, it was still out of reach. the birds were not comfortable with me invading their space.

on a minor note thanks to J.L for sending me an invite to the toronto photography meetup group where photographers in toronto can meet up for a photo taking spree. next meet is this coming sunday. details are here

I'll disagree with the few comments that think this would be more interesting from the back of the angle and/or in black and white. I think it's pretty cool, exhibiting great depth of field and an incredible amount of detail close up. The vivid blue in the background is a good contrast for the black hair. Can't imagine black and white would make that better. On a lighter note, when you are forty, you can check to see if/how much your hairline has receded :)

If you have a shaved head, would you consider my request of a SP of the back of your head instead? Do it in b&w. :) The Vancouver meetup.com has tons of members but only one or two members showed up for meetings from what I read in the postings. And it's not as active as some overseas forum I join.

p.s. when all you needed was to shave your head, does it matter who does it? :) in fact, couldn't you just ask a friend to do it for you? save you some $$$.

an unusual presentation. for a closely shaven head, i'd like to see the back of the head with the neck included, or the side profile of the head. in the case of a head-on shot like this, there's not much of the shaven head and the forehead gets equal presence or equal weight. :) good lord... a photo club with 309 members? would be interesting if everyone tried to show up... where would you house that many people???
