He is approximately 2 weeks old and to realize how much he has grown, imagine that, at birth, he was the size of a small puffed-up raison with a large head and long bill with downy feathers running down his back. At this stage, his mother continues to feed him and will for a few more weeks, but does not stay in the nest with the babies. He will soon be on his own, having learned from Mom to feed on the nectar from flowers and search for insects.
