1875, stereo-view photo by Alice Le Plongeon

Chac-on-Wheels.

Stereo view from A Dream of Maya

In 1875, Augustus Le Plongeon and his excavation crew at Chichen Itza removed this fine Chac-Mool statue from the rubble that littered what would later be named the Platform of The Eagles & Jaguars. The statue was transported by wheeled platform to the neighboring village of Piste and hidden in a thicket for protection from curious workers.
