Frimpong's Romanian nightmare...

Bucharest (Romania)

It's my last day in Bucharest and it's also the first day of a brand new year. I hope during all 2005 I'll be able to visit many other countries and meet other new, wonderful friends.
I was in Herastrau Park yesterday night, by "Charles de Gaulle" square. Then, during my last night in Bucharest I had a strange dream....
"Transylvania - a real province of Romania, yet also a mysterious land steeped in romance, legend and folklore. For centuries Transylvania has lured travellers through her unique combination of history, myth, and scenery. These attractions are preserved, in almost unchanged medieval towns, in lively folk-tales and culture, and in landscapes that seem to spring from the past. In Transylvania, visitors step back into a strange and wonderful past.

But what of Transylvania's most famous character, Dracula? Who was he - legendary figure; villain of a novel; or Prince Vlad Tepes, "the Impaler". Was he a semi-mythical figure whose memory is enshrined in folk tales? Strange tales linger still, of vampires, of fearsome beings dwelling in the deep forests. Is he simply a character from a Victorian gothic novel, a Count with a black cloak and a strange look to his incisors? Or was he really Prince Vlad, feared for his cruelty? Old people tell that, in the era of Prince Vlad, one could leave a purse full of money at a crossroads in the evening and expect to find it intact next morning."

Happy New year again!

Frimpong, you have entered of your own free will. Become one with the creatures of the night. Or come to California and bask in the sun.
