Merry Christmas everybody

24 December 2004

248.
Before I go any further I would like to wish you all and all of your loved ones a very peaceful, joyous and merry Christmas. I have been taken aback by the messages I have received from many of you, so thank you all very, very much for your words of encouragement, and for taking the time to read my daily ramblings. It is nice to know that I am appreciated. So, once again, myself, Linda and Liam would like to say to you all: MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR. I hope that Santa brings you all that you could wish for (and I hope that he brings me an EOS20D). I got a message this morning from António Pierre de Almeida, a fellow Pbaser from Canada, who I am sure most of you are aware of. Antonio, who I believe is a superb photographer, paid me a huge compliment by dedicating one of his photographs to me. This is the second time (that I am aware of) that someone whose work I admire hugely has done this for me, and it is overwhelming. So, António, if you are reading this, thank you for what you did. If you have not visited António's galleries, then you ought to do so.

My life outside of Pbase was relatively unexciting today, as it should be on Christmas Eve. I hung the pictures that have been leaning against the wall in my study since I decorated the living-room in August, and put up some new ones just for the hell of it. Once that was done, I hung the Christmas cards on the string that Linda bought about two weeks ago. Then I settled down to watch some festive TV whilst eating a bacon sandwich and drinking a hot cup of coffee. My R&R was brief, however, as I was instructed to go to Homebase to purchase some bits and bobs for the house. I looked out the window at the rain, then struggled to my feet, making sure to hold the small of my back and limp a bit in the hope that Linda would take pity on me and let me stay put. Homebase was a madhouse. They were selling off all of their remaining Christmas decorations for pennies, and I saw people with huge trolleys' full fighting each other over baubles and candelabras. There was even one couple who were buying two Christmas trees! They might have been Spanish, but I think they were just mean. The lunacy did not stop there. The retail park was jam packed full, and traffic was hardly moving. I got cut up by a pr*ck who was speaking into a mobile phone while driving a large 4x4 (SUV), which got me to thinking why it is the most inadequate people tend to drive the largest cars (apologies to the good 4X4 drivers who might be reading this). Anyway Mr Little Dick in the big car managed to get 5 metres up the road before being blocked in by two other Clio drivers, so justice was done. As I drove past him, I gave him a Christmas present: the finger. Just then it started snowing. Merry Christmas one and all. Stu.

It's snowing! Merry Christmas!

Glad you got snow! Ours is gone but it is very cold: about -2 Farenheit withOUT the windchill, which I think in celcius translates to 42,011,098 degrees below zero. Lovely shots, especially the one of the house and of Mizzie. And the snow on ash is nice, too...guess they're all good! Merry Christmas to you.
