Strength of Cypress

Strength of Cypress

New Orleans, Louisiana

This cypress tree will not be deterred and is growing itself around this stone.
The bridge was built in 1910 and named for a benefactor, Thomas Day, who bequeathed $1,500 to the park for its construction.
A closer view of the tree melding with the bridge can be seen at

Coleen: on your link, it does not go to the picture I think you want. The (/image) is missing in your link:
Great photo, I have not notice this before, but I will take notice next time I'm there.

Thanks for the look; I really like cypress trees, especially the scent.

Without human intervention I think the bridge would be the loser. Very interesting.

Something will give one day but right now it's wedded bliss between bridge & tree.

Fantastic! If this were Chico they would have cut down that beautiful cypress.

Beautiful... and it looks warm there.

I love the way the tree has grown around the bridge.
