My Choice - POTW by default, read comments

I just uploaded (late) my photos for week five. My girfriend and I disagreed on one of the photos I was to submit. Being wise in the way of relationships, I choose to submit her pick. But now I would like to ask my fellow students for their opinion. Please let me know which you like better: "My Choice" versus "Me and My Shadow". Thanks,

Others Comments:
Charles, Smart guy! I like them both, so I can see the problem. But if I had to choose, I would pick your choice because I like the the shadows, and I can see the dogs face, although when a dog is jumping for a ball seeing the face is not nessary, but it is a nice bonus.
Good job. The face in you choice is funny, like I am going to get this ball if it kills me!

I would choose the girlfriend side, why? Because it shows more on how the dog is above the ground, suspended on air for all eternity. The shadow is also wonderful. The white line is a bit distracting but at least it's on the side. Unlike the second picture wherein the dogs rear extremities are still on the ground but I must admit, I love his facial expression...priceless!
If you ask me!

Charles I would go with your girlfriends choice. It is a little better balanced. Larry H

Charles,
What a good guy you are ! I have to agree with your girl as well ! I do have to admit that her facial expression on the 2nd is too funny ~OMG, you can't help but love the JRs intensity!
Have you ever seen the JR races at the horse shows ~ if not you need to ~SOOOO funny and great photo opps too.
Congrats, on your photos last week ~ didn't get to finish commenting on all the rest~ I got mowed over by a horse ~L:OL

Charles,

I like the second photo better (your choice) because the white line draws your eye right in to the main subject of your photo - the dog! Actually, the more I look at it, I realize that the geometry in the second photo forces me to 'see' all the elements of the photo; the white line to the dog to the yellow ball then back to the white line again. And the dog's expression is priceless!

Chuck -

Boy, this is a tough choice. I like the suspension on the dog in your girlfriend's choice. However, I keep going back to your choice because the story is so good! While the placement of the dog is not typical, it adds to the story in that the dog is bound and determined to catch that ball before ball and dog fly out of the frame. I also like the placement of the white line.

Thanks for your input. I can tell by the responses, that I am struggling with the same issues as you have described. I love the expression in My Choice, but the composition of Girlfriend's Choice. I like the white line in My Choice because it is at an angle and thus provides some motion/tension which compliments the look on Abby's face and the impending motion to catch the ball. What the heck, I'm still struggling with it, but the more I look the more I come back to My Choice as the one I prefer.

Heather, I'm sorry to hear about the horse accident. Are you OK?

Charles-
Can I weigh in here-I already gave your girlfriends choice a POTW, but I had not seen YOUR CHOICE until now which is even STRONGER-this wouldnt be the first time I caused a break-up a perfectly good relationship either.-(lol)

Well now Bryan...Your comment put me "in a pickle" as they say. (Not really sure what that means though)

Maybe I'll just let her read the comments and come to her own conclusions. I'm glad you like it better though, because I still do as well. Thanks for the input.
