Point Isabel Lighthouse

Highway 100, Port Isabel, Texas

Lighted for the first time in 1853, the lighthouse is part of Port Isabel Lighthouse State Historical Park and is Texas's smallest state park. It sits on the site of Fort Polk, a fort established by General Zachary Taylor to fight the Mexicans. Confederates occupied the tower and used it as a lookout during the Civil War.
