October 17: It Never Rains In Southern California

Rancho Bernardo, CA

The old Al Hammond song flooded my head as I opened my garage door to get the Sunday morning paper. For the first time in 182 days here it is raining hard, breaking our longest dry spell on record

And I didn't notice all my typos! "Veey" "Novbody" :)

Veey effective capture of a down pour. Novbody seems to have noticed that you desaturated everything but the bush and the grasss to "enhance" the gray, rainy day effect. Nice.

Wow... the weather's really gone to pot... it's quite nice here!

Finally! But why on Sunday?

Looks like your street is starting to flood too! I got out of SoCal just in time for the rain to arrive in our neck of the woods... Nice shot!

Looks like not a lot of sympathy from the New Englanders, and I won't break the string. However, rain does seem a little overdue in your neck of the woods. Hope you didn't get too wet running for the paper :)

Rainy morning are meant for coffee and a newspaper. I love rainy mornings, and this looks quite cozy!

Nice pic!

Sure was nice to get some rain today, for sure. I was woken up at 6:00 this morning, the rain was so loud! I ran out and got a rain jacket so I can get to school this week on my motorcycle without getting soaked. I'm also glad my bag is a lowepro stealth reporter 600aw - has the weatherproof cover - good for motorcycling in the rain.

My but this is splendid.... Did you wait for high tide to bring your paper to the door?

Can almost see the bushes and trees sucking it up.

Lol!!! There is lot of fun in your photo today. That detail about your perspective on your wished (and almost washed hehehe) News paper is fantastic. With no doubt it is a funny and very refreshment shot!!!

I spent nearly five weeks in Novato/Napa and it never rained apart from the day I came back to the UK (preparation I call it). I could get used to rain being unusual.

Goodness - looks just like beautiful B.C. this time of year.

LOL at Dennis. Yes, I put some shoes on and then "braved" the elements to retrieve the paper. Gosh, living in SoCal is such a challenge! ;-)

182 days ... wow ... here in New Hampshire were lucky to get 14 days without rain.
Herb 17-Oct-2004 16:13

For you, I'll bet this rain is welcome.

for days like these, I am glad I have a dog . . she runs out in that stuff and gleefully returns, paper in mouth, dutifully drops it at my feet and prances about until she gets a treat . . her daily reward for keeping me dry and comfortable every morning =]
