Hello Guest,
To answer your question: Let me explain what/how the photo is taken:
The photo was taken at Lassen National Volcanic Park, in Northern Calif at approx 8000'
What you are viewing is the North Celestial Pole(Polaris) in the center, the rest of the lines are the stars in the heaven dragging across the film and leaving their trails in a wonderful display of the circular rotation of the earth. The white milky line in the upper right is in fact the Summer Milky Way.
The camera set up is as follows:
Sturdy Tripod
Camera capable of leaving the shutter open for extended periods(In this case it was approx 1 hour)
Low Pollution Index if possible
Wide angle Lens 16mm to 24mm does well but all lenghts work
F stop varies on length of photo you plan. 1/2 hour to 1 hour=f.5.6
1 hour to 11/2 hour=f8, 11/2 to 2 hours=f.8+
I have taken good fotos at 6 hours at f11
Enjoy and remember
Keep snappin

what are the little lines going in circular motion represent? wind, air, or different kinds of molecules that can cause air pollution??
