29 AUG 04 OLD FRIEND

David Mingay showed his pocket-sized OLY that travels everywhere (almost)

And it looked vaguely familiar

So I dug out my old (vintage 1970) small camera
It's not an Olympus . .but it took some of the best pictures I ever screwed up in those early years =]

This was not PS'd in any way
no levels, no USM, no B/C, no curves, nuthin(except for resize)

here's the set-up shot

Olympus C-740UZ
1/8s f/4.5 at 6.3mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Film. I remember film. :) And you're right. Some of the best photos I ever took were with my 35 mm. Neat shot and composition and isn't it wonderful when you don't have to use PS at all?

I read your comment on DM's PotD with interest as I have a Petri Half 7 - I just might make it my PotD too!!

Great title Pete, and this is photography at it's purest. Love this one.

Ah, the purity of it though. The joy of doing it the way M. Brady did it. The satisfaction of knowing when you shoot a good one you did it w/o fixing it up in Photoshop.
I had a brownie at age 9 and worked through a series of good cameras before "crossing over" in 2000.
I like your shot, the memories, and again the purity of it all.

OMG this looks so much like my long lost love (circa 1973) which I travelled around Europe with in the early seventies. It was tiny and metal and looked just like this and I have no idea where it is and I've been heartsick over it. I have a feeling that I threw it away years ago after I dropped it and dented the casing around the lens. Love your set up shot.

I understand and agree, Larry . .film is quickly becoming an option that . . well, quite frankly, I put the film camera down & think to myself . . . "nah . .then I gotta go develope it, scan it, & process it . . that'll take too long" . . . what a lazy geek I can be!!

Nice shot! I'm much too lazy for film.
