August 28 2004:
Playing to the Camera

I’ve seen this little string trio – ‘BML’ - perform in the High Street before; they have quite distinctive ‘hollow’ violins. It didn’t take this guy very long to notice me!

Agreeing a hundred percent with everybody else on your portrait, Ray! Also the violin is most interesting..I've never seen one before like THAT! I do love his expression! So well done.

One of the reason I don't try too much candid photography is because of my short lens and the chance of being seen while up in their face. But this man looking at you while playing makes the picture. He's playing away while looking at you with that slight grin as if to say.. I see you there.. i've caught you. Really very nice image, Ray

A 6 stringed violin! That IS interesting! I'd love to hear that. Excellent shot, Ray -- beautifully composed and the eye contact really makes it a winner.

I love how intensely his eyes are watching you.

He wouldn't be a performer if he didn't "perform" for the camera .... I always like the subject that willingly looks into my lens...

Such nice lighting, usually the exposure is so-so in street photos but this one looks like you took it in a studio. Great shot.
