@anly - I maintain the latest list of Sigma lenses that will AF (autofocus) on the Nikon D40 / D40x here --> http://nikond40.dpnotes.com/nikon-d40-and-sigma-lenses/ . As soon as Sigma officially confirms the necessary AF information for their new 18-200mm OS lens, I will update the list.

David, your photos are excellent & your interest very much appreciated. My D70 has the following lenses, Fisheye 10.5mm, Macro 60mm, 70-300mm 1:4-5.6, 18-35mm 1:3.5-4.5. I need to bridge my walk arounds & would appreciate any advice you may offer. What do you regard as the best walk around lens? Nikon, Tamron (28-300Di), Sigma ? I live on a property in the Southern Highlands below Sydney (1-1/2 hours drive)
