I row boats

9 August 2004

111.
The heavens burst open with a vengeance today, which was a shame after the promising start. Liam asked if he could go over to his best friend's house to mess about in the tree house they built nearby. I looked out the window and said it would be better if Joe came over here and we could go to the cinema instead. Best Dad ever... Normally I would walk to the cinema, but today we got a taxi because of the weather (this is a one car family, and Linda needs it for work)... the water was gushing out of the drains! Anyway, we got to the cinema to watch the latest blockbuster (can you guess which one?), which the kids seemed to enjoy ('That was good. It had lots of fighting and no kissing', was Liam's verdict). The cinema is a strange set-up. It is a multiplex, but the only place the tickets are checked is at the entrance to the foyer - one you're past the barrier check, you can go into any theatre. When our film was over, we were all for going in to see another... but we would have had to wait over an hour, so we decided against it... Next time, though! By the time we got out, the rain had stopped, so we walked home - only to discover that my roof has a small leak. If it's not one thing...

A bit of a cheat on the picture... it was taken by my ex-wife on Lake Windermere in the English Lake District in 1987. I did scan and process it today, however!

Like this shot - captures your smile and a wonderful moment. Isn't rowing great?

Not sure you look anything like Will Smith?? (Funny title!)
Nice photo, too. Fun day then, and today.

Beauty! I did think 'Classic' before reading the caption; more true than I realized! It still is a great shot. Love the black and white shot and the expression on your face. My great grandfather was born there. (Not in the lake, of course, but near there...)

I'm glad you didn't take them to see Catwoman.

I wondered why you looked soooo much younger(hehe) in this photo!?!
Glad you all at least got to enjoy the movie, before you found out about your leak!

When I saw the boat I was thinking you had had a lot of rain !! We have a Lake Windermere in Vic, Australia too. Not surprising since most of our country is made up of names of the motherland. Yours however appears larger. Good scan Stewart.

Handsome rogue! At first I wondered if the boat had anything to do with the leak in your roof.
