Thanks for your comments. The original was a little dark and I had to level it a little in photoshop. This is why it is a little murky. I am thinking of re-scanning some of my dark slides in 16-bit mode. I think it would improve the dynamic range and reduce the degradation due to the adjustment.

Technically a little murky, though that could just be the scan. Subject-wise, though, it's very potent and interesting. Drives home the swift passage of time and, in doing so, makes one dwell on the folly of war. It's really strange to think of that helicopter as once having been new, sitting in the factory; then to think about it slipping through the air, full of soldiers and potential; and finally, just sitting as a hulk. It's odd to consider something that was meant to be noisy and dynamic now just being a quiet part of the landscape like any tree or fence.
