Summertime: In Memory of Lou Verruto

From the original post of this image, 07/17/2004, at Photopoints, a photographic communtity to which Lou belonged:

""Summertime, and the livin' was easy..."

This one is all about a feeling, and so I dedicate it to Lou Verruto, who recently passed away...

Lou was a warm friend to many here who had the honor of knowing him from other photo site families during the last several years...

He had great talent and great knowledge, which he freely shared with all, and an even greater heart surrounded by an incredible sense of humor...

Lou was all about light, and with his imagery he had an uncanny power to transform the simplest of subjects into pure magic...

He will be missed, but we can be sure that he is now bathed in the most radiant of Light, smiling upon us all...

A special thanks to Anna K. for her beautiful tribute, in imagery and in words..."

"One of these mornings
You're going to rise up singing
Then you'll spread your wings
And you'll take to the sky..."
Gershwin

From Rui Pahla's comment on the image:

"I have to add these Lou Verruto words:

"I am facinated by light...how it shapes, molds, defines and clarifies.
The subject matter is irrelevant...it's the light I am trying to capture with my camera...always the light" Lou Verruto

Congratulations! You know this is a sentimental favorite of mine as it not only depicts Summertime but is a beautiful dedication image for Lou...even has that bit of the "Verruto Glow" that he left us with

Dear Claudia: I am so glad to meet you! My apologies for not posting the text that originally accompanied this image dedicated to Lou, when first presented. I am so happy that you were able to find it and hope you will return to read the words as well... I will send you an email. With Aloha, and the fondest memories of Lou, G.

Hello...I love this picture...this is dedicated to the memory of my big brother Louis Verruto...and I can tell you that we as kids, along with our family, enjoyed so many summer days at the lakes in New York State: Saratoga, Sacandaga, and Galway to name a few. How fitting that you would dedicate this to him. Also, our mother sang us both to sleep with the song Summertime, from Porgy and Bess. Keep taking wonderful pictures, and God Bless You for remembering and loving my brother.
