Mesa Verde Anasazi Cliff Dwelling

I wanted to try to reproduce the look of a 19th century photo of this spot. This involved a new skill for me...making something intentionaly muddy looking.
I usually work so hard to get sharpness and punch out of my little P&S camera that I found "aging" this shot to be completely counter-intuitive. The sharper B&W version of this image can be found in my Extras Gallery.

Looks like the real thing, good job!

This sepia photo is kinder (gentler) than the B & W. Sure like this one.

Both are good, but this has more impact. You have managed to enliven this ancient site. Great effort.

I seem to recall that the Anasazi "disapeared" sometime in the 13th century AD. The ruins date to that time.

Steven, I think both versions are lovely, but I especially like this version. I like the softer sepia colour in this case, to express the notion of 'aged'. It's fun to try things that are complete opposite to the way we usually work and I'd say you did a wonderful job at it. Any idea how old these ruins might be?

I think you did a great job with the finishing.

I have been there ... you do it great justice in this shot. Well done!

Very nice! I loved the b&w but this is better.... I think you've captured that look excellently.
