Piano Jazz
Day 70

Busy day yesterday; I didn't actually get back until after midnight, so I'm catching up now.

I went to see a live taping of the NPR Sunday morning "Piano Jazz" program at the Music Institute of Chicago's Evanston campus.
This is not the best picture I took, but it had all of the important elements I wanted.

The host of Piano Jazz is Marian McPartland, who recently celebrated her 80th birthday. She has played with and hung out with some of the truly great musicians of the 20th century including, but certainly not limited to Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Don Henley, Norah Jones...
Sorry, I'm getting goose-bumps, but you get the picture.

Every week she has a musical guest who may be either a legendary musician, or a talented young musician whose star is just rising. The music is wonderful, but the interaction between Marian and her guests is magical -- she draws out facets of the creative process that go well beyond the music, enhancing and bringing it to life.

Her guest last night was Jon Weber: http://www.jonwebermusic.com/index.htm
Unfortuanately, the CD's he brought sold out at intermission. (I was too busy taking pictures)
Didn't know if cameras were allowed, but when people started pulling out cameras I didn't need a second invitation.

The Baha'i temple in Wilmette is just a few minute drive from the Music Institute, so my alternate photo for today is this: http://www.pbase.com/image/31417191
I eventually got bored with the structure and turned my attention to the gardens. What is wrong with me?

I like your intimate composition in this photo. Your photo tour of the area is also a treat; I love stopping at the Bahai Temple, especially at night...hmmm...
