"...or accept the fact that you're an old fart and start listening to Jazz."

I hope for him i never meet this guy...

Frankly, I'm amazed this child has been allowed out of the playpen for long enough to write this appalling review. Was it the first time he used anything other than a crayon?

Too old to be a creative force? Jesus.
More proof that its who you know...

he´s fucking right. that´s sad enough.

You people make me want to vomit. Every one of you idiots who think Wild Mood Swings and Bloodflowers were bad albums. You bought into The Cure for the image, not because you like good music. You admitted it by explaining that you dressed up a certain way, when you were a teenager. You didn't say that you listen to Disentegration on repeat every time a girl (or guy judging by your picture) broke your heart. This is the kind of thing that belongs in your livejournal, not a magazine or a paper. I can't believe someone paid you to write a review for an album you haven't even heard yet. HACK!

by the way, the album cover is terrible!!!i have read somewhere that Porl has helped in the album, couldnt he have helped doing the cover? i think Wish was the last album with a wonderful look, WMS, Bloodflowers and this one.....just an opinion but they look terrible.

am i the only one who laughed with this article? i mean, i still loving the cure but let's face it, this guy attacks right in the middle, there's some of truth in his words. there's THE CURE from seventeen, faith, pornography, head, disintegration etc and the other Cure. i haven't heard the album yet, but i am sure it won't "change" my life as for example, Disintegration did. i wish i am wrong and discover a master piece on the new album...

Is this the hockey player? ;) He's an idiot. Has he even heard the album?
Guest 16-Jun-2004 00:07
Craig, is it me, or does he not actually comment on the album beyond the title of it?

There's plenty to criticise in the article anyway. The way he describes 'every new Cure album since Wish' - well, excluding live and compilation albums, that's only Wild Mood Swings and Bloodflowers, and they don't exactly both fit his description, do they? And it can only be people his age or older buying new Cure albums? I don't think I need to point out the inherent stupidity in that do I?

Summary: this guy has no idea what he's talking about, but obviously thought a rant about the Cure would make a good article.

Come on, go and listen placebo and mogwai for the next... 2 years from now.
Then, they'll DIE the same way as all the bands end, as it allways was and will.

The Cure is 30 years old. A mature fruit ready to be eaten AGAIN AND AGAIN and with a NEW flavor every time, sometimes a bittersweet one, yes.

"Young Enough to be relevant".
What kind of music do you like? Walt Disney's band?.

I can image a bald Robert Smith, with Mary behind him pushing the wheelchair to the studio
with no teeth, and still making great music. Great Music = Cure Music.
("diz iz my dazt adbum")

But, i can't image to the singer of Placebo making ONE interesting song in his/her life.

whatever, ¿who is this guy anyway?. And what's wrong with his hair. It seems to be falling
down to his throat. Simon says... Make a phone call to my barber.
Show the other cheek mr Julio Iglesias.
Tom 15-Jun-2004 21:39
Not even a review of the album really, More an attack on the band and questioning their relevance in todays music scene. Why do they do this every time? Heard it all before *yawn*
Craig Parker15-Jun-2004 21:26
Why hate mail? He's expressing his opinion on the album. How can you say anything, when you haven't heard it yet? A bunch of hate mail would simply verify one of his points.
lisa 15-Jun-2004 21:12
no wonder the cure never comes to australia! i think we should all write him hate-mail, his email address is on there >:)
