Trakoscan Castle - Croatia

One of the things I wanted to do while in Croatia was go explore castles. This is one of the best kept ones in the country. It is beautiful. It overlooks a lake which was created/dug for the castle when it was being built. Mind you, this lake is huge.

Not sure. I've never been there, or if I have, I've forgotten the trip. :( I will toss up more castle pictures soon. There will be more from this castle and another series of an old castle ruin. The castle ruin will demonstrate just how thick they built the walls back in that time. Mike

Indeed! And I suspect the Kettle Moraine might help with many of those rocks????

Castles are my favorite of all architecture. I've always wanted to buy a farmer's field.. at least 50 acres, and build a castle here in Wisconsin. There are certainly enough rocks piled in the fields to do so! Mike

I am in Wisconsin. I took a two week vacation to Croatia in 2000 I believe. I brought along one of my mother's digital cameras and snapped pictures like they were going out of style. Later, when I had arrived back at home, I burned them to CD. I recently dug out that CD because I needed pictures to post here. There are still quite a few more to post. I just have to get off my lazy duff and post them. :) Michael

Beautifull castle and excellent capture. I love to visit castles.
