I have posted here previously. We would like to preserve the stained-glass windows done by L.P. Frohe in Union City, Hudson County, N.J. Would like address of descendants or artisans still working in the trade to obtain biographical details and known works required to document significance for listing on NJ and National Register of Historic Places. Gottfried (1827-1908) had 3 sons Leo, Gottfried, Matthew and 1 daughter. They all lived in the Buffalo NY area. Besides the stained glass windows they also painted the murals on the walls and ceilings of many many churches as well.

I went to the New York City Research Library on Fifth Avenue. There I looked in the Art & Architecture room for any biographical or historical information for LEO P> FROHE b. 21 August 1851, Sittard, Holland. However, he is listed in the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Buffalo, New York along with his wife and 2 sons and perhaps a sister. Godried Frohe is listed in the 1900 Census in Buffalo, N.Y. along with his wife Gertrude.
All the books I searched did not yield any information about Leo P. Frohe. So I did a web search and discovered your site.
The stained-glass windows in The Blue Chapel located in Union City (once West Hoboken), Hudson, New Jersey are attributed to L.P. Frohe. This Chapel houses cloistered dominican nuns of the Order of Preachers.
Patricia Frohe claims that stained-glass windows throughout the U.S. were made by the company dating from 1867. Add Union City, New Jersey to the list. I'd love to hear from a relative of this exceptionally talent craftsman.

My father's family, owners of Leo P. Frohe Art Glass Works began business in 1867. All the side stained glass windows in this church and hundreds of windows throughout Buffalo, western New York, and the United States (and some windows done outside this country) were designed and crafted by the four generations of my family. I chose to comment on St. Louis Church, because this was a German church, the church the family originally belonged to, and my father and his siblings attended St. Louis Elementary School in the 1930s.

Thank you so much, Mr. Josker, for the wonderful photographs of the many gorgeous historical churches in Buffalo. Some time it would be wonderful to see links to any web sites connected with these churches. There are also photographs of interiors (including stained glass windows) at a Buffalo architectural site, also a lovely and extensive work!
