19th March

I've made a mistake and I'm embarrassed. I just realised that I posted my second matchsticks shot to my PAD gallery when it was shot yesterday the same time as yesterday's match PAD shot. I meant to upload it to my colour still life gallery. OOOPS! Thanks for all the kind comments on that photo anyway!

Tonight was exciting for us. We went to pick up our new cat! Meet Joey. He's just 28 weeks old and gorgeous. He looks like a tiger as he has very striking markings and even has striped whiskers! He has only been here an hour and is sniffing round his new surroundings. We already have a cat, Smudge so this period of integration is very important. We have put Joey in his own room safely away from Smudge who is understandably royaly pee'd off. She can smell the newcommer and is sat outside the door to Joeys room sniffing and looking unhappy. Smudge even hissed at us which she has never done. We just hope that they will get on.

I couldn't get a better shot of him as he's very active at the moment checking out his new home and is very wary of the camera. You can see another photo of him here: http://www.pbase.com/image/27089974

We got Joey from the Cats Protection the same as we did Smudge. He was called Cloe by his previous owners because they thought he was a girl! We've decided to call him Joey as it rhymes and he may not notice the difference. Unfortunately he's got bad back legs which means he limps a bit and when excited his legs sometimes go out from under him. Makes him all the more endearing.

We got both cats from Cats Protection because we feel for the older cats who are not given a home because everyone wants a kitten rather than an older cat. So if any of you want a cat, before you run off to get a kitten, think of the older homeless cats. Kittens will always find a home.

He's very pretty. Don't worry. Cats take a while to adjust to each other.

I think it's wonderful of you to adopt an older cat.
