My friend Rob asked me to photograph some clay heads he sculpted and these are the results. They are his first attempt at clay sculpting and very impressive. He wanted a moody lighting to show off the textures of the work. We lit them with a couple of anglepoise lamps and some crinkled foil reflectors and got some some very pleasing results.

A friend of mine, Rob, a cabby by trade, made these amazing heads from clay. These are his first attempts at sculpting! and we spent the afternoon photographing them just with a couple of anglepoises on the table. He wanted moody lighting, so we tried various methods until we hit on the double back-lights which really worked on a bald head, with a bit of crinkled ali foil to provide some reflected light for the forehead, and more foil to stop lens flare .A bit of daylight strayed in from a skylight to give a blueish hue in places.

BTW The bust is fascinating to look at, too!

Interesting lighting - and I like how the shadow is cast across the face.
