FEB 19

Camera set up on the tripod. A number of images made (see http://www.pbase.com/image/26187221 ). Handheld flash used. Flash set down on the sofa for the actual image of subject (that would be me -- after all, who else would put up with all this silliness?). After, the final image was layered together in Photoshop. But then, it seemed one part of the final image was missing... a lack of hairlight to give some separation between the head and the background. So the camera was set up again (fool that I was to take it down before finishing my work), the flash set up above & behind the subject, and then I tried to duplicate my sitting stance for yet one more frame to be shot. Anyway, here's the final image.

CJ, you've got the multiple exposure compositing down pat. This is beautiful. Question: what sort of flash were you using for this? Did you set it manually, to get the exposure correct, or did you just fudge it? I've been experimenting a bit with hand fired flashes, but I've hit a couple of problems. My flash (420EX) can't be set manually, so it usually nukes the subject when I fire it by hand, and I can't set it off remotely. Kinda limiting. Would love your advice. Best regards, ~g
