The two images above -- subject & background and then just background alone -- were combined together in Photoshop to give the impression of the apple being in mid-air. The left side of the bottom of the apple was cloned to the right side to give the subject a better look and symmetry (the original apple was off balance and brused on one side).The picture was then rotated and some blur to the top of the image was added to give the impression of the apple falling.
