San Salvador, Southern Bahamas (aboard the Nekton Rorqual). Captured with the Nikon F5, Nikon 105mm macro lens, and a 2:1 teleconverter (dual Ike 50's). I was hunting for small macro critters by myself when I literally got hit in the side by something. It was a 40-50 lb nassau grouper, who was nosing into my bc. Looking for food? Amorous? Who knows. I swam up into mid-water and the grouper and I began a 20 minute, twirling pas de deux as I tried to get some shot - any shot! - with my 2:1 macro set up and a huge fish who wouldn't leave me. In any event, I emptied the roll, and got this interesting closeup of his eye. A most unusual encounter.
