pip's seat

According to the inscription on this seat in Bramshill Woods, Pip used to walk his beloved dog here. Apparently he loved the view from this spot so when he died his wife had a seat placed here in his honour.

Whenever we have the chance (and we're taking EVERY one now the nights are drawing in)...in other words if I'm home in time, we load up the boot with dogs and set off for a walk in the woods. Tonight we think we've done about three miles so, what with the 40 minute swim this morning I'm feeling very virtuous. We often stop for a ponder here, it's a good place to reflect on whatever is on your mind.

I like the analogous nature of this photo. A man who is loved, walking his dogs, stops to rest on Pip's seat, a memorial to a man who was loved, walking his dogs......
