This is the 8th of 15 sequential images of an occultation of Saturn by the Moon on Sep 10, 2001. In an occultation one object passes in front of the other, obscuring the farther object of the nearer object covers a greater angle. In this image Saturn is approaching the sun lit side of the Moon, and the very bright Moon is washing out the image of Saturn. The body of Saturn is fully behind the Moon now, just the trailing ring can be seen.
My Sony 505v was being used with eye piece projection from an 8" Meade LX-50.
