the NT has recently opened the house (nominally still lived in) daily. This is part of the mostly C17th manor house constructed on the ruins of the former Priory (www.britainexpress.com/attractions.htm?attraction=221 . It is absolutely stuffed with museum type artifacts and of a noticeably gloomy mien. I feel I recognise those gents each side of the fireplace, but can't quite remember where from
