This is too garish for my taste, but this is what came
out of the camera with the White Balance set to sunlight.
The sky was very, very red for a few minutes.
No colour adjustments were made in post.

I, for one, love it - I don't think it is too garish at all. I have seen skies this color as recently as last night. Beautiful overall image. ~BV~

Oh no, it's not garish. It is real! I have seen skies just like that. And it is even no sin to take a dull image, especially one in RAW, and make it look like it did to your eye! People make a big thing that a picture has to be real. There is no real photo, a photograph is a graphic representation of the real thing, an imitation to be honest, and also a reflection of the photographer. That is why it is possible to recognize the work of photographers, they have developed a style, purposely or not, that is their own, and the reason why you can recognize the work of different photographers. If it all had to be "real", then all photographs would be exactly alike. How boring that would be! I think this is a marvelous photo!
