Jason's Deli

Tucson, AZ

Jason's Deli is a chain of deli's and was suggested by a fellow PBaser. The one I tried here in Tucson was located next to the Tucson Mall. They have an option of having it with Pastrami, but that would not be a real Reuben. Mine was not served with pickles-they asked me if I wanted some pickle slices in my to go order, but they did not make it. They may have an area where you can get condiments, but I did not check that out. So, the Reuben looked pretty good, and the corned beef was indeed tender, lean and plentiful- they advertise it to be 1/2lb. There seemed to be enough cheese, but it was not anything that stood out. The rye bread, while not obviously toasted, did has a slight crunch to it that was not from being stale, but the seeds in the rye bread seemed to be crunchy- a bit distracting in a way. I kept waiting for my palate to tell me that something good had happened, but it did not- "lackluster" and "safe" come to mind when trying to describe it. There was not a lot of flavor added by the sauce. The $10 sandwich comes with baked or regular chips- put into a plastic bag- a bit tacky IMHO. The one good thing is that it was filling. I would rate it a C.

I am glad you had a chance to try it out. I have never gotten one to go and maybe that makes a difference. I usually rate them 4 out of 5. I do like you picture of it. ~V~

I take issue with Neil. Montreal sandwiches are the best. V

Only a NY deli has the meat and bread for a sandwich of that type. It did look goo in your photo I will attest to. "VV"
