c. April 1860 - Getting started

The Pony Express ran from April 1860 to October 1861, providing the fastest mail delivery
between St. Joseph, Missouri and Sacramento, California. It consisted of a total of 183 men
and 400 horses to travel day and night, all year long. The riders were paid $100 per month.
