A pair of bald eagles that have nested at the same location for the past 9+ years have chosen a new nest site. This location offered one of the best views of nesting eagles up close (they're still far away but you can see them clearly from the road). I especially enjoyed the scenic view from Johnny's Lookout over the pond to the eagle's nest.

I know of another location just across the border (a 1 hour drive from Ottawa) where the bald eagles nest even closer to the shore/end of trail. However, the trail is closed (a sign that says do not enter) to the public during nesting season. I just happened upon it one day last fall while exploring a wooded area. The eagles are really close to shore and the tree is not too high. You can see why they closed this part of the trail.
