Uninvited Guest

Tucson, AZ

This cute couple hundred pound female javelina snuck into my yard one afternoon and surprised me when I went to clean the pool. Apparently my wife had left the gate open (my property is entirely fenced) and the javelina decided to check things out. We see them maybe once a month going down the street or around the neighborhood, but we have never had one enter the back yard. A woman and her dog had been attacked by one a week earlier, so I did not want to get too close- she did not want to get too close to us and went the other direction when I approached her, which allowed us open the alley gate and she eventually figured out she could leave that way. I made a short video with my of this encounter:

I have had close calls with Javalina with her young when I was house sitting in Tucson. Any animal who can snack on cactus is not my friend

I hate to tell you this, but that's the ugliest dog I've ever seen. Please don't name it "Lassie" (some things are sacred). :-)

Cool video, but you could have got much closer, lol.
She does look like she could take care of herself and could move at speed if she chose.
Good story

She doesn't look very bothered that you are there. Good that you had the camera handy. V

That is very cool! We only have deer, fox and coyotes. At least you were able to get a shot of here close up. ~V~
