A central square in Porto, which is full of hundred year old plantains and benches where old folk and students both take their turn, is also the arrival and departure station for the old electric trains. It’s a pleasant place in which to sit down and welcome in the Spring. Set amidst old and modern sculptures, and surrounded by the city’s most emblematic buildings, like the Torre de los Clérigos (Cleric’s Tower) and the Lello e Irmao Bookshop, the square affords you the opportunity to be in the city centre at the same time as being in the middle of a mini-forest. There are public tables just in case anyone feels like putting on a small picnic.
