Mabi rainforest

best viewed at original size

Halloran’s Hill, Atherton Tablelands.
Mabi rainforest occurs on fertile volcanic soils on the Tablelands but in areas of only moderate rainfall (for rainforest). Some of its trees are deciduous though most are evergreen.
Mabi rainforest has mostly been cleared for agriculture so remnant stands such as this one are particularly valuable for conservation purposes.

Still looks 'open enough' to walk through - - unlike 're-growth' that usually is impassible. Nice scene

A perfect composition of sun rays lighting up a remnant stand of rainforest. I would enjoy visiting a place like that.

A very lovely shot, Don! What a pity that these places are being cleared!
