Old Logging Wagon

On a drive in the rurals I came across this old logging wagon. I don't know anything about it, and am not even sure I could find it again. I have a general idea where it is, so maybe I could. Maybe I should! That way I might find out a little bit of history about it.

Now that's interesting.

Looks like one of the very large trees taken from an old growth forest. The young trees behind it seem to have been replanted within the last ten years or so. Just a guess. Vote.

What a find. But what's the story behind this...
Steve Thuman05-Feb-2016 00:17
Sort of an odd thought, but the log is older than the wagon.

Too heavy for oxen? V

If the log could tell you its story!!

Very interesting – old vs new, ancient vs rebirth, horizontal vs vertical – lots of contrasts

Great find. The tree trunk is massive. I like all the young trees in the background. "V"

A great find, looks as if it was built to be towed by traction rather than by horse power. Certainly a very large log.
Hank Vander Velde04-Feb-2016 13:29
Abandoned it seems. Why was it left there? Perhaps the owner became ill suddenly, perhaps the bottom dropped out of the timber market, perhaps????? Great find and shot Vern.

Must have been from a HUGE tree originally Vern! v
Eloine 04-Feb-2016 08:02
wow! I wonder how old that tree must have been when they cut that! Maybe it's not that big but the scale next to those little trees make me think it's bid. Neat picture.
Helen Betts04-Feb-2016 07:13
Very nicely composed capture of this old wagon, with some great texture on the log. I wonder why they just left it there?

heavy duty wagon...admire the colours, comp, and sense of immediacy..

Looks really huge....V

That's a decent size log, wonder if it's still there? There has to be a story about it somewhere.

It sure is neat, I wonder if it was pulled with a steam engine! V
