Buildings with prominent 'jetty' projection on the 1st floor evidently very fashionable around 1450-1500. These are said to have been hastily re-arranged to accommodate Henry VIII's retinue when he visited the town.
Interesting building, the modern modifications are unfortunate. The 'jetty' projection is due to the limited building technology of the time in placing the levels of the house on top of one another. Typical for half timbered architecture of this era.
