Circus cyaneus
This Northern Harrier was patrolling the marshes on the west end of Galveston this past weekend. This is a species that I always found to be a challenge to get a decent photograph of when I was starting out. They seem to have an uncanny ability to get far away as soon as you point a camera of them. The memory of that early struggle makes every decent shot of a harrier that much sweeter.
