this is probably C17th modernisation and shows the range of charcoal fired hobs that would have been used for the refined cooking to go with the roast carcass. Also shows the end of the second hearth at the left. This is the sort of setting for "John Saturnal's feast" by Lawrence Norfolk (any more fans out there?)
