The Colonnades - Woolamai

Barbara taking a shot.

Phillip Island's Volcanic pre-history is evident in the The Colonnades – a basalt rock formation extruded from deep within the earth’s core
and weathered over millions of years to create a dramatic ‘organ pipe’ geological effect on the cliff face, it has been dated around 60million years old.

Nice to see Barbara doing what she does best..the age and size of the colonnades are mazing. V

Amazing formation and a most intriguing one. Fine photo and having Barbara in the frame gives a nice reading on the scale. The bright red jacket is a nice counterpoint to the near monochrome of the rock. Vote.

Great capture of this geographical organ pipe effect.Inclusion of the figure dressed with the red jacket adds two results...emphasizes the height of the cliffs and lifts the dullness of the encompassing rock face.V

the tightly knit basalt columns are remarkable...the red-jacketed photographer adds a lively presence...
