I’m a bit rubbish with tools, despite being a girl who loves good quality tools, whether power tools or hand tools. I’ve always had this great ambition to be Marketing Director of Stihl or Dewalt – ah well, never say never! I buy them with great intentions of keeping them in a place where they can be found when needed and in a condition in which they will not fall into disrepair. I fail at both most of the time. Almost every item I buy ends up rusty, bent, broken or covered in something highly inappropriate.

So when I saw my new heavy duty wire cutters on the beautiful oak table reflecting colour and shape through the tiger stripes, I decided “why not photograph them for posterity” before they go the way of all flesh.

Will these buck the trend and remain pristine or will they be manky in a matter of weeks? Only time will tell but for now my best intentions are all they have…
