Leeston is around 30 klms from the nearest population of bellbrds.
But as trees and native plants have been planted and established
in the area, more bellbirds are turning up in places they have
almost never been sighted. This is the third time I've seen or
heard a bellbird in Leeston, all of these sightings have been in the last
10 years. First in 2005, then last year... now again....
