Valley of the Kings, Luxor, Egypt

on a search through old images for a photo-book project focusing on my long-time traveling companion, quite a few memories were stirred...here, after flying Vancouver-London-Cairo, taking the train south with overnight stops first at El Minya, and then Qena, we finally arrived in Luxor...there we rented bicycles to explore the west bank of the Nile, and duly pedaled our way to the Valley of the Kings....the main attraction was obvious, yet when we eventually arrived at King Tut's tomb, much to our chagrin it was closed!...we couldn't believe it!...still, with a ticket for entrance to a total of three tombs, we somehow managed to visit four..in the end it was a rewarding day

To travel all the way there and to have it closed is such a bummer. However, you did what a great photographer does, you still found wonderful things to photograph and enjoyed yourself! Wonderful memories.

Must have been a great disappointment, but you followed a cardinal photographers rule to always make the best of any situation.
Helen Betts18-Apr-2015 14:18
That would have been disappointing, but glad the day worked out well in the end. Good portrait of your friend, too.
